Outstanding parks in Darke County include Greenville City Park, Greenville's South Park, Heritage Park in Versailles and Arcanum's Ivester Park.

The Darke County Park District supervises five woodland parks: The Coppess Nature Sanctuary, The Routzong Nature Preserve, The Winterrowd Wetland Preserve, Tecumseh Point and Shawnee Prairie Preserve.

Coppess Nature Sanctuary is approximately 32 acres. The level path through this wooded area is approximately one-half mile long. This beech and maple forest provides a fine habitat for many birds and animals native to this part of Darke County. Visitors to this preserve can also find plants that would be found on a prairie.

Routzong Nature Preserve is a 51 acre wooded preserve located on Routzong Road off State Route 571 east of Greenville. Towering oak, beech and maple trees highlight this forest. There are large Ohio buckeye trees along with groves of paw-paw trees. This ia a great place to see nature display its wildflower glory.

Tecumseh Point, the triangular shaped tract of land formed from the junction of Greenville and Mud Creeks, was once part of a large Indian encampment known as Prophets Town. The Darke County Park District built a footbridge and a deck overlooking Tecumseh Point, steps to a lower trail and a walkway. Take a walk along this area so rich in history and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors.

Shawnee Prairie Preserve features wetlands, natural prairies, an oak tree stand that is 250 years old along 2.5 miles of trails. The Shawnee Nature Center is a 6,800 square foot nature center containing a nature library, exhibit and observation areas, classrooms and science laboratory.

The Winterrowd Wetland Preserve, donated by the Winterrowd family, was dedicated in 2002. The preserve is located on U.S. Route 47 between Ansonia and Union City.

Golf Courses Darke County has four public golf courses: Beechwood Golf Course near Arcanum (27 holes); Stillwater Valley Golf Club near Versailles (18 holes); Union City Country Club is a private course.

Eldora Speedway This internationally known dirt track is home to several premier racing events for winged sprint cars and dirt late model racers including the Annual Kings Royal Race. Located on State Route 118 between Rossburg and New Weston, Eldora Speedway offers RV camping facilities for race fans. Complete race schedules are posted on Eldora Speedway website at www.eldoraspeedway.com.
